The One Book...

The one book that Joe strongly states I have to read the "whole time" he's in seminary...don't have to read anything else...but just this one book...I think it really made an impression on him.
I'm starting it tonight, I'll let you know what I think...

Grab a cup of coffee or glass of sweet-tea and pull up a chair...

I'm sure there will be lots to chat about...the view from the driver's seat of a mini-van is ever-changing and there is a potluck of events to cover.
The two kiddos are growing up before our eyes as I work as a part-time cardiology nurse while married (22 years) to my best friend. The colorful heritage of family and friends continue to be an abundant blessing and well, also a training ground for loving well.
Thankfully, God has woven it all together, past-present-and-future as a part of His-story and as with everything else, for His glory. I live, basking in the simple joys of life, learning (hopefully) from the painful times, simply amazed and humbled that He loves such a wretch as me. In Him, I'm being taught about thankfulness, contentment and peace.

I can't tell you about me without mentioning a huge part of life as we know it today is a husband leaving his Engineering career to follow a calling into full-time ministry. For us, that means a total of 4 years of seminary work at Reformed Theological Seminary, ending with a Master of Divinity Degree May 25, 2013. I'm holding loosely to any specific ideas about life past that, where we will serve or where we might be sent...I have no notions of it being perfect and am expecting it will be hard. Life is messy especially if it involves people...and who wants to live a life empty of people?
I am continually reminded that the people we are called to live in community with are hurt, living with unimaginable pain. We all have unhealed wounds, some decades old...some have experience the worst of horrors with children dying or spouses leaving. Some have felt the deep sting of being hurt by another, grudges held, bitterness taking root while having huge parts of their hearts crushed. And we are being called to love each other in the in the midst of all that-- it is/WILL be messy, but so worth the efforts!

Pray with me that where ever THERE is, that I'm able to plug in my hairdryer and avoid BIG spiders...and if that's not part of the plan, well, I'm sure He's preparing my heart for that as well! Most of all I hope, in Him, to embrace it all-- arms open wide to be thankful for where He plants me to serve.

You, my friends, are welcome to join in as I ponder all these things in my heart...
but BE WARNED, most of the time the thoughts floating in my brain are nothing special, the meatloaf or green beans at the potluck buffet. Maybe though, every now and then an epiphany might occur, an unexpected gift from God. It's more than what's for dinner or what the kids did today. It's the whisper of my Redeemer calling me to draw closer to Himself...
I hope you think it's worth muddling through all the rest!
